Machine Learning Engineer
We are a Berlin-based deep-tech software company training reinforcement learning models in simulated environments to completely revolutionize factory floor planning. You will bridge the gap between complex industrial shopfloor reality and cutting-edge machine learning to deploy robust, production-ready AI solutions.
Overview
Why this role matters
Traditional factory planning tools are rigid, slow, and unable to adapt to real-time shopfloor disruptions. By building a high-fidelity digital twin for reinforcement learning simulations, we enable manufacturing plants to optimize resources on the fly, transforming raw physical complexity into automated, intelligent decisions.
Responsibilities
What you'll do
You will own the end-to-end translation of physical manufacturing requirements into our reinforcement learning simulation framework.
Candidate profile
Who this is a fit for
- Python Expert: 5+ years of experience writing robust, scalable, and highly testable Python code.
- Shopfloor Context: 2+ years working in factory operations (as an engineer/planner) or building ERP/MES systems.
- Manufacturing Domain: Strong grasp of manufacturing processes, including discrete, line, and engineer-to-order setups.
- Applied ML: Basic understanding of Reinforcement Learning algorithms and hands-on experience with PyTorch, Optuna, or MLflow.
- Engineering Rigor: Experienced with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, unit testing, and integration testing practices.
Culture

A quick note
This probably isn't for you if:
- You want to work in a silo; this role requires constantly translating real-world factory planner needs into code.
- You prefer theoretical research over writing clean, production-grade, and thoroughly tested software.
- You need rigid corporate structures, defined processes, and top-down management to get things done.
